Plan and deliver a range of Program Assurance activities for National Grid’s portfolio of critical programs and projects. This will include preparing Program Assurance strategies, conducting high level portfolio assessments (e.g. Pulse Checks), project and/or program reviews (e.g. Health Checks), stage-gate assessments, Go/No-Go reviews and/or targeted risk assessments.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Assist and support the Director of Program Assurance (US) with the development of program assurance strategies and plans for National Grid’s most critical programs and projects.
Conduct activities associated with portfolio, program, and project assurance reviews; including stage-gate assessments.
Identify project/program risks and recommend solutions or remediation actions to program leaders and business sponsors.
Review and analyze project/program work products and deliverables against leading practices or industry standard methodologies, e.g. PMI/PMBOK.
Interview project/program team members and stakeholders.
Document, report and present key findings, risks, and recommendations to project and/or program level boards or steering committees.
Build and maintain positive relationships with program leaders and business sponsors within the organization.
Stay abreast of and share knowledge on leading practices and industry standards related to portfolio, program and project management.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Sciences or related areas
MBA or CPA, ACCA, ACA, CMA, CISA or other appropriate professional qualification(s) preferred.
Project management education, training, and/or certification highly desirable, e.g. Project Management Institute (PMI) or PRINCE 2 certification
5+ years of relevant work experience, Big 4 experience preferable or industry experience.

Knowledge and Experience:
Solid project assurance experience, Big 4 experience preferable with proven track record for delivering audits and/or assurance within multinational utility/asset management companies or operations/functional experience from utility/assessment management companies.
Strong practical knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies, systems and tools.
Solid experience managing large programs or projects in both traditional waterfall and agile environments.
Familiarity with audit delivery and practices, internal control frameworks and risks management activities and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practices.
Demonstrable track record of developing successful, long lasting, relationships across the business including ability to engage, challenge and influence senior managers, deal effectively with resistance to proposals and secure their buy-in and support.
Strong knowledge of and experience of project assurance, ideally within the utility sector.
Experience of managing project teams, managing others and projects independently. Highly competent in Microsoft Office (e.g. Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
