The Enterprise Portfolio Manager (EPM) / Strategic Project Manager leads the efforts to help the University achieve business objectives by managing the complex web of concurrent, interrelated projects at an enterprise level. The EPM /SPM manages the prioritization, coordination, planning, and execution of efforts in direct support of critical business objectives by:
Focusing on delivery of the University’s top initiatives.
Facilitating portfolio management and increase successful project execution through standardized project management practices.
Supporting project delivery, resulting in increased efficiency and effectiveness with sufficient resources measuring project success to ensure desired results were achieved.
The EPM plays a key role in strategy formulation, collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders, and leads cross-functional teams in the development of University-wide operational strategies. The EPM links University strategy to programs and projects and provides the organizational home where the strategy document produced by senior administration is converted into the projects and programs that carry out that strategy.
Overview of responsibilities (not all inclusive):
Develops and maintains standard project management methodology, including governance, and any related methodologies deemed critical to the success of the business strategy.
Trains and mentors staff and or faculty on the defined methodologies.
Directly oversees strategic initiatives ensuring compliance to the project management methodology and execution of on time and within budget initiatives.
Leads and manages governance process ensuring alignment with business strategy and financial plan. Facilitates requests for new projects and changes (scope, time, budget) to active projects with documented impact assessment.
Leads and manages communications and reporting for all strategic and high priority initiatives.
Leads the annual budget process for defining initiatives that will be executed to maintain business operations and/or deliver on business strategy.
Directly project manages mutually agreed upon projects when deemed necessary by senior leadership.
Develops and oversees the University’s corporate strategies to support growth objectives while strengthening the business core to develop and maintain a competitive advantage.
Provides consultative support in the formulation of University and individual department strategies.
Reviews and analyzes existing University strategies to provide counsel to the University’s leadership and ensure alignment with the University’s overall strategy.

Bachelor's Degree or higher; Minimum five years of experience as a Project Manager, managing progressively complex initiatives and understanding principles and framework of successful project management.
Additional required experience includes regularly creating project plans, building/resourcing project teams, and managing/monitoring adherence to the project plan.
Successful track record of meeting deadlines in an environment with competing priorities.
Success in this role demands a strong strategic and analytical orientation coupled with exceptional communication skills as well as a highly developed collaborative nature.
Experience in a Higher Education environment highly preferred.
