The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research is a newly-formed 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on funding groundbreaking scientific research that integrates novel ideas in biology with innovative technology solutions to deliver breakthroughs to patients. Based in New York City, the Foundation is seeking a full-time Associate Project Manager. As a passionate team player, you will help us build an organization that will accelerate new discoveries into future cures.
Reporting to the Head of Operations & Finance, the ideal candidate will have:
A minimum of 3-5 years project and/or program management with increasing responsibilities
Significant knowledge of and expertise in project management concepts and methodologies through recent hands-on experience coordinating programs involving multi-disciplinary teams and multi-partner resources in an R&D environment
Significant experience managing the overall planning, scheduling and coordination of R&D programs and/or multiple, concurrent R&D projects
Significant and recent experience managing partnerships and maintaining effective working relationships between organizations
Recent experience with executing out-going grants
Significant experience with MS Office suite, including MS Project or other project management software
Manage the end-to-end life cycle of grants
Assist in the planning and management of Foundation events (e.g., board meetings, scientific symposia, etc.)
In collaboration with our Chief Grants Management & Communications Officer, establish and incorporate resource allocation and timing (financial, FTE) for all grants
Establish and manage a contingency and communication plan to inform management and partners when milestones are at risk
Collaborate with Foundation colleagues to ensure transparency on project status or other project management-related topics
Contribute to or lead ad hoc projects or resolution of real-time issues as designated by Management
Work with Management to build strong and sustainable project management procedures to enable long-term success
Utilize project management software to monitor and track Foundation events and projects
Travel as needed to meet with grantees and/or foundation partners
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or Business (Marketing or Communications)
Research experience in cancer biology or clinical oncology will be an asset
Professional certification in project or program management, such as the Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is preferred
