Works closely with Vice President of Program & Portfolio Management (PM) to provide specialized cross-functional PM leadership for Alder’s drug development programs through expert planning, risk mitigation and execution. Collaborates with functional project managers and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to ensure alignment between program and functional plans, including the accuracy of established timelines and resourcing. Executes all responsibilities using PM best practices in the development, initiation, execution, control and closing of projects.
Lead functional and cross-functional teams to ensure efficient execution of project activities and resolution of issues.
Proactively identify impediments to team effectiveness and drive the development of related solutions.
Develop and manage Integrated Project Plans (IPP) as the single source of project and program information.
Develop and deliver project update reports.
Provide PM support to functional and enterprise wide projects, as needed.
Collect and report project metrics to aid in planning and capacity management.
Ensure cross-functional thinking and appropriate analytical rigor in the execution of development strategies.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a relevant field.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical or other Healthcare related field.
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a drug development PM role.
Experience working with teams and/or in a matrix environment.
Drug development knowledge with comprehensive understanding of other functions including, but not limited to, Pre-clinical, Manufacturing, Clinical, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Commercial and Quality.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation and relationship management skills.
Advanced proficiency in PM tools and processes, including MS Project.
Ability to work with scientific or technical personnel and to facilitate resolution of project issues across functions.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Experience in facilitating cross-functional or multi-disciplinary teams in an R&D environment.
Strong organizational skills, including ability to follow tasks through to completion.
Ability to work in a matrix and at times, ambiguous environment.
Quick learner; proactive; takes initiative; goal oriented and results driven.
PMP certification preferred.
BLA/NDA preparation experience preferred.
