Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University is seeking to hire a Director II position. This position will direct the Capital Projects unit of the Facilities Planning and Management Department that is responsible for the programming, design and construction of University facilities construction projects in excess of $100,000. The Director II leads staff of over 30 personnel including University Architects, Project Management, Construction Management, Contract Administration, and unit staff to execute approximately $100 million per year of construction work-in-place. In addition, this position coordinates with department management, and engages with University leadership, state Board of Regents office, and senior management of construction and architect-engineer firms to ensure projects are developed and executed in accordance with University, Board, and state requirements.
The successful candidate will possess strong communications skills, including presentations to large audiences and decision making bodies.
This position serves at the pleasure of university administration and is exempt from certain P&S policies.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 6 years of related experience; OR a Ph.D. or other professional degree and 3 years of related experience unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience.
Supplemental Required Education and Experience:
-Degree from accredited institution in architecture or civil, electrical, mechanical, or construction engineering.
-Relevant experience must include experience in capital construction project programming, design and construction and in managing design and construction contracts.
-Relevant experience must include experience as a supervisor managing staff executing capital construction program of scope similar to Iowa State University.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience in executing capital construction projects in an institutional setting similar in scope and type to Iowa State University campus.
- Current registered professional engineer or architect.
