FARRAGUT is seeking to enhance our company through the hiring of a Director of Software Development. The mission of this position is to create customer-value through consistently predictable and high-quality product-releases and through growing leadership and leveraging the talent of team members.
The responsibility of this position is to lead multiple teams of software developers in the design, development, and maintenance of multiple software products that successfully meet customer needs. This is accomplished through effective project planning, process improvement, people and financial management, and a strong understanding of our customers and their business processes.
Project Leadership (40% of time)
Understand, buy-into, and communicate annual mission and vision
Create annual and quarterly operational plans
Plan, monitor, and report revenue and gross profit
Create, monitor, and control project plans and risk mitigation strategies
Create, monitor, and control customer communication plans
Establish and ensure adherence to standard processes and seek continuous improvement
People Leadership (40% of time)
Identify talent needed (people, skills, leadership) for year and quarter using Annual Vision and Plan
Design and implement optimal organization structure to execute plans. Make the required adjustments as operational plans change.
Ensure team member development plans exist for each individual in department and that plans are executed as per established timeframes
Hold people accountable to their quarterly goals, providing both positive and constructive feedback; Comfortable in addressing and resolving conflict.
Collaborate with executives and managers to ensure high employee engagement
III. Customer Leadership (20% of time)
Understand customer’s organization, leadership, and high level business process
Certify release readiness for User Acceptance Testing
Own defect density and incoming repair rate
Minimum of 8 years of management/leadership experience in a software development environment.
Advanced analytical and problem-resolution capabilities on a strategic and functional level.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results.
Demonstrated ability to meet project plan scope on-time, within budget, and high quality, while also maintaining a high level of employee engagement.
Experience managing high performing team that consistently met or exceeded aggregated revenue, gross profit and customer satisfaction targets.
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Experience successfully managing multiple, complex, year-long projects in excess of $1M per project.
Ability to identify risk and create mitigation strategies.
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with customers, understanding their organization, leadership, high level business processes.
