We are currently seeking an experienced, results-oriented Solution Delivery Senior Technical Program Manager to join our team and play a key role as the lead of strategic, external customer implementations. The Senior TPM is the glue that helps keep projects and people together and will be responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and executing complex technical programs from beginning to end in a fast-paced, innovative, and rapid-growth environment. The Senior TPM should be a fearless critical thinker who is comfortable leading multiple medium to large client projects and initiatives simultaneously. S/he should possess superb communication skills, problem solving techniques, and project management expertise s/he will leverage in order to meet or exceed both organization and client goals. The ideal candidate is a tenacious problem-solver, a passionate customer advocate, a solid project manager, and takes pride in leadership by example.
This is a customer-facing role that requires the Senior TPM to work with a wide set of functional teams and stakeholders, both internal and external, including Sales, Product Management, Software Development, Operations, Finance, Legal, Creative Services, Marketing, as well as third party vendors. Therefore, excellent cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills and a solid understanding of how business and technology teams operate are essential. You will need to be someone who is a self-starter, can dive deep and quickly learn business, technology, and organization. TPMs are our “fixers”, able to creatively unblock programs and mediate between teams to resolve issues in a dynamic environment. We keep our tempo high, so you must be able to “hustle” to get things done. Ultimately, you will be accountable for ensuring our customers receive a premium customer service experience.
As the Senior TPM, your responsibilities will include the following:
Own and be accountable for the successful delivery of end-to-end customer solutions and related customer satisfaction. (If your current projects are internal-facing, this is not the role for you).
Manage multiple simultaneous client projects.
Manage all activities around client implementations, including schedule, scope, budget, risk, dependencies, and maintaining high client satisfaction in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
Ability to manage project costs and profitability on projects effectively.
Manage tasks and resources, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Manage all aspects of change order management and milestone management. Identify alternative solutions when project plans hit roadblocks.
Create and maintain all related project documentation, both internal and external.
Serve as the primary point of contact for key customer accounts and manage program status and related communication to a broad stakeholder audience, including customers, internal executives as well as technology and business teams, and third party vendors.
Manage customer expectations and build a trusting and mutually beneficial relationship with customer.
Explain difficult concepts and issues, and persuade others to adopt a point of view; anticipate and communicate ramifications of decisions and issues to project stakeholders.
Identify and execute impactful Solution Delivery process improvements concurrently with project execution.
Evaluate and report progress in terms of quality and performance metrics common to IT projects.
Take a leadership role; act as a facilitator and mentor to other team members; facilitate collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best practices.
Be involved in project/program staff selection.
Assist with capacity and resource planning.
Occasional travel to customer sites.
Experience and Basic Qualifications
PMP certification required.
BS in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
10+ years of relevant, technical program management, client-facing experience in an internet-related program or applications environment (or equivalent).
5+ years of experience in software engineering, software development management, or a related technical field focused TPM experience.
Expertise in project management, with both agile and waterfall methodologies.
Proven track record of getting things done, managing multiple tasks, including communication with internal and external teams while consistently delivering on schedule.
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and project planning/execution skills, including estimating and scheduling.
Excellent analytical skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of working with multiple project stakeholders, including internal, client, and third party vendors.
Excellent oral and written communications, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with developers, product managers, and senior business leaders.
Experience working in a remote environment with a distributed workforce across multiple time zones.
Able to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
Must be a diligent, highly organized, execution-oriented professional, with an ability to grasp the big picture, demonstrate attention to detail, and handle multiple priorities.
A self-starter with high energy and a “sense of urgency”, you will thrive in a fun, fast-paced, startup environment.
Outstanding ability to work cross-functionally is required.
A desire to work at a technology start-up or fast paced high growth company.
Works well under pressure.
PgMP, PfMP, and/or PMI-RMP certification a plus.
5+ years of experience working in the field of mobile application development specifically focused on mobile applications and mobile operating systems (Android, iOS phones and tablets).
Domain knowledge and experience in mobile commerce, e-commerce, digital marketing, and/or loyalty is valued.
Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
A good understanding of business strategy in a high growth, rapid scale environment.
Maturity, judgment, and proven ability to lead and influence others.
Independently driven, resourceful, and able to deliver results with minimal direction.
Demonstrated experience with project management software tools, including, but not limited to: MS Project, Confluence, JIRA, Basecamp.
