This role supports Grid Hardening and ensures quality contract construction work based on Company specifications. Direct and controls performance of contract work, and coordinates work schedules to meet the requirements of Company departments and divisions. Experience as a Journeyman Lineman, Foreman, or Customer Project Coordinator experience is preferred.
Electrical Distribution Inspector duties include reviewing performed unit work and unit sheets for accuracy, completing weekly audits of contractor electrical line crew work, and final audits in programmatic work of contract line crews. Inspectors will observe crew work and have ability to give feedback to foreman and GF as needed.
Must have knowledge of safe work practices in performing overhead and underground electrical distribution line work, including maintenance, installing, and removing electrical utility conductors and equipment. Must have experience in reading and interpreting job prints. Must have knowledge of the NESC and experience in understanding and interpreting utility standards. Inspector shall have an understanding of all State, Federal, and OSHA safety guidelines regarding electric line construction. Inspector will become familiar with, if not already familiar with, the construction standards of Avista Utilities, both underground and overhead standards. Experience with Microsoft Excel is preferred. Must have valid driver’s license.
Three or more years of inspection experience in construction.
Three to five years experience with electric utility operations, construction practices and standards preferred.
Knowledge of electric line construction maps and drawings, basic electricity, line safety, right of way and accounting procedures.
Understanding of state, national and federal codes and regulations, computer applications including work management and financial systems software, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with customers, estimating, contract administration and managing projects.
Valid driver’s license.
