About the Position: Under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, this position is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of capital and strategic facility-related projects in support of the university's mission. The Assistant Vice Chancellor is primarily responsible for managing the delivery of the university's approximately $1.8 billion capital project delivery portfolio currently in design and construction. This position oversees three areas: Capital Budget, Capital Project Delivery, and Strategic Project Delivery, which includes a team of project managers, project coordinators, field construction representatives, process validation experts to ensure proper commissioning and client turnover, and a strategic project delivery group that works with all FP&M units to ensure quality assurance and quality control across the entire division.
The scope of responsibility includes leading the team responsible for managing the delivery of all UW-Madison capital construction projects delivered through both the State of Wisconsin and UW System; directing a team of strategic project managers that work closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor, Deputy Associate Vice Chancellor, and the FP&M Leadership Team to ensure the timely and successful delivery of facility-related, non-capital strategic projects and priorities that impact the built environment portfolio and its operation; and guiding the Capital Budget team in collaboration with the Associate Vice Chancellor, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Planning and Design, and other FP&M and campus leaders and key stakeholders to develop UW-Madison's six-year capital development plan and biennial capital budget request.

Responsibilities:
Provides strategic leadership and support in the areas of academic leadership, educational innovation, strategic planning, project management, and process improvement.
40% Coordinates efforts to define priorities, report on progress, and ensure that the priorities are integrated into decision-making
20% Works collaboratively with deans and directors across campus to help shape and advance priorities in their units, align plans in schools/colleges/divisions with the campus Strategic Framework, and advance the mission and vision of the university and their units
20% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
10% Leads the Capital and Strategic Project Delivery Department for UW-Madison's Division of Facilities Planning & Management, including oversight of the unit's capacity, financial resources, and performance
5% Work with the FP&M Leadership Team to ensure timely and successful delivery of facility-related, non-capital strategic projects and priorities that impact the built environment portfolio and its operation
5% Oversee quality assurance/quality control activities for all capital projects to increase business value, build synergies among projects, ensure limited resources are effectively used, and that all projects align with strategic goals.

Required
7 to 10 years of experience as a senior leader with progressively responsible experience in capital construction and/or strategic project portfolio management.
Bachelor's Degree with preferred major studies in one or more of the following areas: strategic project portfolio management, capital construction project management, architecture, civil engineering, construction engineering, or a related field.
Preferred
Master's Degree with referred major studies in one or more of the following areas: strategic project portfolio management, capital construction project management, architecture, civil engineering, construction engineering, or a related field.
