As the Sunset Memorial Park Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic management of the cemetery. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and supervising burial services, maintaining the grounds to the highest standards, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. As a leader, you will manage a dedicated team, fostering a positive and empathetic work environment. Additionally, you will engage with grieving families with compassion, addressing their needs and providing support during difficult times. Collaborating with other departments, such as the administration office and Executive Director, will be crucial to ensure the seamless functioning of the park. Your role involves balancing operational efficiency with a deep understanding of the emotional and sensitive nature of the services provided, making your position integral to the overall success and reputation of Sunset Memorial Park.
We have a solid in-house training program available for candidates who may not have a funeral service background.

Experience with irrigation system, balancing system, and maintaining proper moisture levels. Perform check of zones to identify problems. Ensures repairs of sprinkler heads and water lines are completed timely and properly. Checks or oversees water well performance and recording of water usage for state reports.
Leadership, supervision, and participation in the execution of all services and select park operations.
Coordinate workflow to meet time deadlines. Meets daily with Family Service team to identify priorities and makes recommendations for service schedule based on the Grounds team capacity to perform service closures.
Daily check of park to identify property, landscape, safety, and overall presentation of the park.
Monitors safety practices for all park visitors and employees.
Communicate scope, standards, and procedures to Ground crew for park operations.
Ensure Grounds crew are properly trained to maintain successful delivery of services. Including: training and documentation of OSHA and Safety of staff.
Participation in hiring new staff, scheduling, discipline, and evaluations.
Maintain the preventive maintenance, repair, and replacement system for ground equipment and vehicles to produce reliable equipment and cost effectiveness. Keep detailed records, forward report, and recommendations to Park Executive Director as needed. Communicate repairs to front office.
Identify and complete in-house maintenance and repairs or communicate when a vendor/contractor is needed to complete the job.
Manage Park service tickets from a Grounds crew perspective.
Ensure daily timekeeping practices are in place and followed.
Ensure appropriate levels of product and supplies are available to meet the needs for park maintenance; this is coordinated with the Office Supervisor.
Convey needsd for annual operational budget.
Programs seasonal gate hours and holiday preparation; leaf clean up, small tree and trimming and removal. Post holiday flower and trash clean up.
